Swapna Anthoor

Swapna Anthoor, our founding attorney, is your local Bay Area lawyer that listens to your needs and provides the lowest rates to clients to ensure money is not an issue when it comes to your legal rights. She has a personal and solution-oriented approach to all her client’s needs. Swapna is dedicated to empowering the community with legal representation and is committed to putting the needs of her clients first. 

Swapna has years of experience practicing law in California and India. In 2008, she received her Master of Laws from Golden Gate School of Law. She is an active member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before all courts in California. She is also a member of the Bar Council of India. While practicing in India, she handled cases in the Trial Courts and High Court of New Delhi. Therefore, she has a good understanding of India and California law when it comes to Family Law and Estate Planning matters. 

Awards and Recognitions

In 2017, Top Attorneys of North America distinguished and recognized Swapna as a preeminent Top 100 Attorney by the Who’s Who Directories. In 2016, the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys awarded Attorney Anthoor the “10 Best” in client satisfaction. She was also recognized as a top attorney in North America by the Who’s Who Directories from 2015-2016. A continental certificate was awarded to her by Who’s Who for being a Pinnacle Professional Member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and achievement in their occupation, industry, or profession. 

Swapna is also fluent in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam! 

Arthur A. Tapia

Arthur A. Tapia received his Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of Santa Clara and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  He is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California as well as the United States District court for the Northern District of California.

Mr. Tapia’s litigation practice encompasses a broad range of motor vehicle, premises liability, toxic tort, and product liability cases.  He has been involved in litigating numerous cases throughout California and has participated as co-counsel in several multi-million dollar cases.  He is fluent in both English and Spanish.  His experience on both sides of the bar gives him the balanced perspective to counsel clients of the strengths and weaknesses of their case.   Mr. Tapia strives to provide his clients with compassionate and zealous legal representation that focuses on the unique needs of each client. 

Mr. Tapia is a member of the State Bar of California, American Bar Association, Santa Clara County Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California and the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the Mexican American Community Services Agency and was a past commissioner on the Santa Clara County Commission on Consumer Affairs.  He has been recognized in Oxford’s Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the West.  Additionally, Mr. Tapia was recently recognized by Lawyers of Distinction for excellence in the practice of law.

Mary Elizabeth Grant

Associate Attorney Mary Elizabeth Grant comes from an extensive background in family law and immigration law. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego.

Prior to joining Anthoor Law Group, Mary Elizabeth managed her own law firm in Los Angeles. She provided legal services to clients in dissolution of marriage, legal separation, paternity, domestic violence, guardianship, special immigrant juvenile status, T-Visa, and asylum cases. 

Mary Elizabeth has worked for the Public Defender’s Office in San Diego County and has also provided pro bono services to victims of human trafficking and individuals seeking asylum in the United States. Pro bono services of hers include researching and preparing T-Visa and adjustment of status applications for victims of human trafficking and asylum applications and representing asylum seekers in immigration court. At Anthoor Law Group, she utilizes her experience in complex family law matters to help clients get the results they want. 

Roxana Guzman, Law Clerk

Roxana Guzman is one of the most senior staff members at Anthoor Law Group and wears several hats at the firm.  Her positive attitude and upbeat personality bring the office to life. She is the first point of contact for potential/current clients and her presence is critical to the success of Anthoor Law Group.

Ms. Guzman comes from a strong background of management and customer service.  She is well equipped to handle stressful situations, confidential information, and balance a high magnitude of daily calls at the firm. Ms. Guzman is also very talented with organizing social events and creating professional marketing material. Her high work ethic and ability to single-handedly manage a fast-paced law firm make her the foundation of our firm. 

Roxana plays the role of office manager, receptionist, and law clerk. Our staff members rely on her to be up-to-speed on current case statuses and scheduling meetings. She works on administrative tasks and legal document preparation for estate planning. From managing the calendars of all staff members to preparing all manner of documents, she does it all with ease.  

She has assisted the founding attorney in many complex legal matters and has been her right hand during trials. She continues to go above and beyond expectations, providing quality customer service and support for Anthoor Law Group – including being fluent in Spanish. Roxana’s service is greatly appreciated and valued; we look forward to having her with our firm for many more years to come.  

Komaljeet Kaur, Paralegal

Komaljeet Kaur graduated from Lincoln Law School of San Jose with her Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor’s of Science in Justice Studies from  San Jose State University. Komaljeet has years of experience in various areas of law, but she found her niche in family law when she clerked for a Santa Clara County Judge.

During her judicial clerkship, she honed her writing skills and learned the legal processes of family law cases. Komaljeet diligently continues to emphasize strong writing, organization, and legal research skills to make her legal arguments clear and concise for her audiences.

She is also very passionate about helping others and promoting legal awareness. She is multilingual in Punjabi and Hindi and previously used her skills  as a court interpreter translating for members of the Indian community. While working as a court interpreter, she learned that many individuals in her community struggle with invoking their legal rights due to language, culture, and legal knowledge barriers. Since learning this fact, she has made it a personal goal to contribute to community outreach platforms to inform others on their legal rights and options. 

Whether it be preparing legal documents, project management, or preparing policies and procedures, Komaljeet loves to organize her thoughts on paper. Her interests in writing and streamlining workflows has obtained her great success in her academics and career. She was an active member and contributor in Lincoln Law School’s Law Review program. She also has two active Blogs on WordPress and published a book in 2014 containing some of her best works of poetry. 

Maria Uhl, Paralegal

Paralegal Maria Uhl has more than 30 years’ experience in family law. Her caring and attentive personality make her a client favorite at Anthoor Law Group. Maria has particular experience dealing with delicate family law matters pertaining to domestic violence and child custody. She has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge on a variety of family law procedures over the years, allowing her to work diligently on all types of cases. 

Maria has also worked for established law firms as well as solo practitioners in her career and brings decades of legal experience to Anthoor Law Group. Besides being experienced in family law, she is also well versed in the following areas: litigation and trial preparation in State and Federal Courts, plaintiff’s personal injury and medical malpractice, and corporate and trademark law.
